WELCOME NOTE

The main reason for launching the postgraduate lifelong learning program “Aesthetic Academy” in cooperation with the Medical Faculty Rijeka (MEDRI) and Medical Esthetic Institute (MEI) is the recognized need for improving the application of non-surgical and minimally invasive methods of aesthetic medicine, as well as its new, rapidly growing branch called “anti-aging” aesthetic medicine.

The one-year program is intended for medical doctors and dental doctors from the Republic of Croatia but also from around the world, as there is a possibility of conducting the program in English.

Lectures will be organized during six weekends in one year, after which the participants receive a diploma for completing the Aesthetic Academy program issued by the Medical Faculty Rijeka and Medical Esthetic Institute.

Today, we all live in a world where aesthetics is absolutely needed. Statistics show that in the last ten years minimally invasive and non-surgical methods of facial and body aesthetics are on the rise and account for 70% of all aesthetic procedures.

The need for a postgraduate program in non-surgical “anti-aging” aesthetic medicine is currently higher than ever due to the rapid development of completely new treatment protocols using these methods. They are based on new knowledge that allows for a better understanding of the anatomical structures of the face and body, as well as knowledge that enables the development and refinement of new techniques for applying these methods.

In order to ensure a more effective application of non-surgical and minimally invasive methods of “anti-aging” aesthetic medicine, this modern program includes detailed theoretical knowledge and skills in applying various methods and procedural strategies in aesthetic medicine.  After the theoretical part, practical skills are developed through organized workshops that enable the direct application of specific knowledge and skills through planning, implementation, and
evaluation of techniques.

Participants will develop the ability to properly evaluate patient needs, thus ensuring good planning and management of treatment that will provide a successful medical procedure without endangering the patient’s health.

After the completion of the program, participants will develop the ability to evaluate patients’ needs, plan and manage treatment effectively, and ensure successful medical procedures without endangering the patients’ health. This program will enhance the quality and safety of aesthetic treatments, improve the management of complications that may arise, and offer better outcomes for patients.

“Aesthetic Academy” Postgraduate Lifelong Learning Program
Faculty of Medicine and Medical Esthetic Institute

The University of Rijeka Senate has approved the launch of a new postgraduate lifelong learning program called “Non-surgical aesthetic medicine – Aesthetic Academy” by the Faculty of Medicine Rijeka (MEDRI) and the Medical Esthetic Institute (MEI). The program is implemented in collaboration and with the support of the Croatian Society for Aesthetic Medicine of the Croatian Medical Association, the South East Europe Facial Aesthetic Society, and the Thalassotherapy Opatija Special Hospital.

The program awards 12 ECTS credits upon completion, and the admission requirement is a completed degree in Medicine or Dental Medicine. The main reason for launching the program is the recognition of the increasing need for further education in the application of non-surgical and minimally invasive methods of aesthetic medicine, a new and rapidly growing field also known as “anti-aging” aesthetic medicine.

Since the enrollment quota is limited for a better implementation of the program, preliminary applications are possible now on the website of the Medical Esthetic Institute.

The new MEDRI and MEI program – “Aesthetic Academy” covers detailed knowledge and skills for theoretical and practical application of different methods and strategies in aesthetic medicine. The competencies obtained will strengthen the quality and safety of treatments as well as better control and treatment of possible complications caused by such treatments. Participants will develop the ability to properly evaluate the needs of patients. The program is intended for all medical doctors and dental doctors who do not have specialized training in this area, as well as doctors with completed specialized training who want to further improve and refine their knowledge and skills in this area.

Data shows that in the last 5 years, the share of injection and other non-surgical methods of aesthetic medicine accounts for about 70 percent of all procedures in aesthetic medicine. In addition to their prevalence, the need for a postgraduate program in non-surgical aesthetic “anti-aging” medicine has arisen due to the rapid development of completely new treatment protocols using these methods, based on new knowledge that enables a better understanding of the anatomical structures of the face and body on which these methods are applied, as well as the knowledge that enables the development and refinement of new techniques for the application of these methods. Increasing the safety of their application, better treatment of possible unwanted effects, or management of possible and frequent complications is highlighted as an important modern step in the application of these methods.

The accumulation of knowledge in the field of anti-aging aesthetic medicine, especially the knowledge of anatomy, offers better treatment outcomes, as well as greater safety to service users and to those who apply these methods.
